Short Answer


You are required to complete a “Short Answer” as a part of the “Writing” section of your Common Application. The prompt is as follows:

  • Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences in the space below (1000 character maximum).

An extracurricular activity can include any of the following:

  • Club/Activity
  • Sport
  • Volunteer experience
  • Internship experience
  • Work experience

Choose an experience that is meaningful to you. In your short answer, you should state what the extracurricular activity or work experience is, what your role was (primary responsibilities), what you learned from that activity or experience, and why it was meaningful to you.
